I've been anticipating a Mac tablet for years, but this doesn't even resemble a tablet, it's just an oversized iPod. Great toy for college, maybe, or watching movies on a plane, but no practical business application at all. If you're hoping, like I, for a true Mac answer to the Thinkpad or such, this isn't it. iPad will not run your Redbook or WinForms contract software. You can't use a sylus on it. If it did any of these things, it might be the ultimate field tool. Being a lifelong Apple devotee, I must say that I am completely underwhelmed with the iPad.

I’ve been anticipating a Mac tablet for years, but this doesn’t even resemble a tablet, it’s just an oversized iPod. Great toy for college, maybe, or watching movies on a plane, but no practical business application at all.

However, I must admit that I was very disappointed on numerous items. To start with, the iPhone operating system is limited. It does not support multitasking. So you can't be listening to music and respond to email. It doesn't support Flash. It doesn't have native USB or SD card support without an adapter. It doesn't have video output. I guess what I am saying is that it may not be a "replacement" or "upgrade" as much as a "cool" toy that can do email, web, calendar, and contact management. Who knows... maybe seeing it in person and in conjunction with some software upgrades... maybe it can be a replacement or upgrade. But only time will tell.
