It has been quite interesting in life, having been ‘blessed’ with wearing glasses for all but five years of my life. ‘Blessed’ in the sense that in wearing glasses, if handled right, builds character. The countless times that kids had opinions about my glasses and what they looked like, then chose to express those opinions quite openly, boisterous, and generally in front of a multitude of friends and strangers alike.
As the years passed and I realized that due to the damage done to my optical nerve, because of an accident at the age of five, eye doctors have dismissed any chance of the use of contact lenses to hide my impairment. Once again, a character builder!
The interesting part of all this is not the character-building side of my experiences, it is the power found within myself and a total respect for the power of the human brain. I have seen through the years, and even today, that many times I do not realize how dirty my glasses may be, and am truly astounded at times to think that I could see through them, as dirty as they were.
When I would clean them… (WOW!) what an astounding clear view I had of my surroundings! It would even at times bring a new outlook on things; a brighter, more exciting outlook. At that time I realized that up to the point of cleaning my glasses that my brain was able to allow me to see beyond the dirt, the obscuring spots, and actually function as if nothing was wrong.
So many times in life, we need to take the time to give ourselves a ‘cleaner,’ ‘fresher’ outlook on things by stopping long enough and allow those powers within us to function and interpret happenings in our life. Many times this ‘cleaning’ comes from finding, discovering, learning, and evaluating situations and happenings that are affecting us at the moment. The ‘cleaning’ brings new realizations and vision in our lives, which now gives us the different results than we have experienced before. The results we find a new belief factor of a problem or occurance. With this new vision with results and belief it allows us to realize great results, which now opens the door to greater knowledge with the a new found potential.
Yes, depending on the situation, sometimes we have to use a little extra effort in the ‘cleaning’ process!
